BIO

Stephanie Chavara is primarily a teaching artist and performer committed to community building, and the power of storytelling. After being introduced to experimental theatre and sight specific work, she studied at New York University's Stella Adler Conservatory, and continued that trajectory through studies in Eastern Europe, primarily with the Rhodopi International Theatre Collective in Bulgaria.  She continued her studies at DePaul University's Theatre School, where she attained her MFA in Acting.

Chicago's vibrant theater scene, opened up a door to applied theatre and a chance to build bridges between disparate peoples and organizations (and  building these skills within organizations) through a strengthening of listening and communication skills.

After graduating DePaul, she became involved with 2nd Story, a collective of story makers committed to building intentional conversations through live events and classes to deliver a unique theatrical experience.

In addition to writing, performing, directing, and teaching with the company, she has performed her stories at live lit events throughout the Chicago area.

As a teaching artist and facilitator she has created curriculum, and led workshops/classes with PBS, Adventure Stage, Writers Theatre, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, Arts-For-All, Global Explorers, Actors Training Center of Wilmette, the Hinsdale Library, and Shakesperience Productions.

She is a proud company member with 2nd Story, and an ensemble member with Adventure Stage where she is also a member of the mentorship program, Trailblazers.
